Minimalist designs: : Puff printing is great for simple designs with bold shapes. The very nature of puffy ink makes it so that elaborate or returning designs with slender lines do not lend themselves well to this technique as the puffy ink is smear prone and will blur fine lines or small design features.
Fabric Compatability: Puff ink sticks best on fabrics made of natural fiber (cotton especially). Synthetic fabrics such as polyesters or nylon may not create as much puffed-up an ink as for cotton, and so results may vary.
Cost: Puff printing can be considerably pricier than standard flat screen printing, because of the specialty inks, screens, and curing processes required. And it’s something to keep in your mind when you’re on a shoe-string budget, or need to churn out boat-loads of product for cheap.
Puff Print Limitations: Puff prints can convert only small and simple pieces of information because the ink, when heated, settles down the data which does not enable tiny prints to represent well in puff prints. Which is why, often, it’s better to stick to bold designs and a shape.
